Hello everyone ! How you doing ?? Let’s start with this first dating experience in Korea with a Korean guy.
Today we’re gonna talk about Mister Tea (Name starts with a T sound) …
So Mister Tea is a 32 years old Korean man, living in Seoul. I met him on Tinder with the passport option before I traveled to Korea this summer ’22. He was really nice and funny… BUT the more we talked, the more he started to give me hint that he liked me a lot and why not starting a relationship… I wasn’t ready at that time and didn’t know anything about the relationship culture in Korea.
Fast forward, we meet in Korea ! He wants to meet me in person the next day of my arrival… I accept because sooner or later I would “have” to meet him anyway. I can’t tell you how tired I was…
He asks me to meet him at a subway station. It is an adventure, not because it is complicated to take the subway … Not at all ! But because I am about to meet someone from the internet, in another country, that’s a lot ! hahaha
I see a guy with a striped shirt, nice pants, with a flower bouquet on a hand and drinks on the other hand. There are few old people around him sitting on benches and looking at him. I’m trying to imagine what they are thinking “he is certainly going to meet a girl !” “Is it for a first date ?” “How does the girl look like ?”… Haaaaa … Imagination !
I take a deep breath and go towards him. I feel nervous for many many reasons :
- First date in a very very long time
- Being a foreigner in a country and possibly being judged (I’m fine with it don’t worry, but it adds pressure on my introverted self)
- Mixed feelings about my confidence
I can feel all the eyes on me … He smiles at me, and because I’m so nervous, I give him a “hi hug” …
He gives me the flowers and the drink (it was nice … ). Now it’s time to explain the “mister TEA” ! The drink was from Starbucks : Yuja Mint tea cold version. Sooo Sooooo yummy ! It became my favorite drink since that day.
Let’s get back to the story. We have a walk and he asks me if I’m hungry, I say yes. We go to a market and buy few food and then… We had choice between eating outside or at his place … I don’t why but I said “let’s go to your place”. To be completely honest, It was soooooo hot outside and a nice aircon was the best option ! hahaha.
I knew his new place, he showed it to me several times through video calls … It was nice being there.
After trying the food, he gives me a bag full of things inside and says “that’s for you”. I was surprised ! Hum I open the bag and see a shirt, Kakao shirt, and a cute portable fan ! So nice of him !
After that I could feel the mood changing …. Hummm He asks me to go on his sofa ! RED FLAG ladies !!!!!!!!! Hahahahahaha I go there anyway and Oh my god … Having experiences help me a lot !!! A LOT !!! So he sits down next to me, grabs my hand and I deliberately act like a simple friend so I taped on his hand, no caresses … Trying to lower the weird mood.
I tell him that I know what’s happening now but I’m not ready. He’s ok with that and I tell him that it’s time for me to go back home because I’m getting tired. It was the perfect timing because it was time for him to go back to work !
He couldn’t drive me back to my Airbnb (and lucky me he couldn’t !!!) because of traffic … So I went back home, changed clothes and had a walk around the neighbourhood ^^
After that, he texted me for a while and wanted to see me again… Unfortunately we couldn’t because I had plans, and he did as well (and to be honest I didn’t want to change my plans for him …).
He tried to make me feel really guilty, I couldn’t bare that so I stopped talking to him. I don’t want to give too much detail about that, so I will keep it private.
